Flag Ceremonies

During the full 100th Anniversary Celebration year, which extends from Labor Day of 2009 to the end of 2010, we will have Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Venture Scouts visible in public in their uniforms with flag ceremonies throughout the Baltimore region. We are looking to our Commissioner staff to help make the connections between our troops, packs and crews and civic organizations, public meetings and other venues where flag ceremonies are appropriate.

With our association with a Baltimore monument, Fort McHenry, the Baltimore Area Council has proclaimed the Star-Spangled Banner Flag (15 stripes and 15 Stars) as the official flag of the council during this Centennial Celebration.

The Star-Spangled Banner is available to purchase at CRW Flags 410-766-6106. The cost will vary according to size needed but the 3X5 foot flag is generally the flag that you would use on your flag staffs. The use of this flag would be a special way each Scouting Unit could show the community their patriotism during this Centennial Celebration of the Boy Scouts of America.

We will have a model script that references our 100th anniversary, and Nentico Lodge will help train color guards conducting the flag ceremonies. Units are encouraged to post pictures and video through http://www.baltimorebsa.org.

To assist there are two ceremony scripts available for units to use and adapt to your specific needs.
