Cub Scout to Boy Scout Transition

Printer-friendly version

The transition from a parent lead Cub Scout program to a boy lead Boy Scout program is a major event for out scouts. 95% of all Boy Scouts entered the program from a Cub Scout program. The Webelos portion of Cub Scout programs is especially important as it is designed to prepare Cub Scouts to enter a Boy Scout Troop.

Retention During Bridging

The first and best thing we can do to help Webelos transition to Boy Scouts is to retain them in the program. Finding new scouts is much more difficult than keeping scouts in the program once they join, even if it means helping them move to another pack that better suits their interests. This  document provides some interesting information on scout retention and ideas to help keep scouts in the program.
